Deck Repairs and Restoration.Find out how to avoid the cost of replacing your deck!
There are many problems one can face when the snow melts and reveals the Beating that a home takes just from sitting there while the Minnesota winter happens around it.
"Can you pound that footing back down into ground?" A customer asked recently. While that is not an option, we can usually level the deck to back to where it started and at very least get the remainder of the life left out of it. If the base ofnthe footing is no larger than the top, it will heave upwards every year when the ground freezes and thaws. While there are many remedies to the problem at the point of construction, a lot of us just want to just fix what we have and put that money to better use on the inside of the home where (like it or not )Minnesotans spend a lot of time at least 5 months a year.
"Can you pound that footing back down into ground?" One sweet Lady asked recently. While that is not an option, we can usually level the deck to back to where it started and at very least get the remainder of the life left out of it. The best way to do this is to start by making sure that the attachment to the house (the ledger board) is level and Locked to the rim framing of the home. Once this is done I work my way outward and by holding the deck up temporarily we are able to make necessary adjustments to bring it back to level. At this point all other necessary repairs can be made. Such as:
1. Replacing deck boards
2. Deck Pressure washing
3. Deck staining and sealing
4. Adding stairs to a deck
5. Repair deck railing
